With any Internet connected device it is a good idea to make sure the operating system software is as up to date as possible, this is no less so with an Apple iPad.
Check for IPadOS updates via Setting
Make sure that your iPad is connected to the internet, and then tap the
gray gear settings icon to launch Settings.
The number one in a red circle on your the Settings Icon on General and on Software Update, is an indication there "IS" an IPad update available.
Tap General
Tap Software Update
We recommend having Automatic updates turned on
If you see a Check for updates button, Tap it.
If a new version of iPadOS is available for download, you’ll see it listed at the top of the “Software Update” page. You’ll also see a “Download and Install” or an “Install Now” button.
Before tapping Download and Install
Connect your IPad charger
Consider performing a back up - Click here for >> Apple Back up Instructions
Please note! There have been instances of data loss during IPadOS updates. Make sure you have either backed up or saved your data (pictures, Documents, Address book) before updating.
Once you have tapped download and install your update will commence.
Be aware it can take a while to download a large update and then install it.
Once the installation process begins, a popup alerts you that it’s verifying the update; wait for this to finish
After verification is complete, the iPad screen goes black and it restarts. The Apple logo and a small progress bar appear in the center of the screen.
Once the installation is complete, your IPad will retart and you can use your iPad again, as usual.
